Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight efficiently.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary, ensuring secure handling of goods.
- Follow designated routes for delivery and pick-up, adhering to schedules and traffic regulations to maximize efficiency.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before and after each trip.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and address any unforeseen issues promptly.
- Ensure all freight is secured properly during transit to prevent damage or accidents on the road.
Experience
- Proven experience as a truck driver with a focus on commercial driving, including route driving and delivery operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of operating manual transmission vehicles and various truck types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other equipment when required.
- Familiarity with transportation safety standards and regulatory compliance related to trucking operations.
- Previous experience handling freight that involves specialized equipment like tanker or refrigerated trailer operation is a plus.
