Nurses are responsible for the medical assessment, care, safety, support and transition of youth in a secure, short-term stabilization unit. Nurses report directly to the Program Coordinator.
Primary responsibilities of the position include:
· Facilitates admission and discharge of youth to the unit
· Completes physical and mental assessments, develops a plan of action, accesses appropriate resources and makes appropriate referrals to address any health issues identified during the physical component.
· Develops treatment plans in consultation with youth, parent(s)/guardian(s) and relevant team members
· Monitors the health status of youth during their stay on the unit
· Provides medical treatment as required or directed by physician, such as dispensing and administering medication, skin and wound care
· Provides educational information regarding addiction and health promotion issues to youth, parents, guardians and staff
· Maintains charts and health records
· Assists in the day-to-day tasks/routines in managing the unit as required
Qualifications:
· RN/ BN/ RPN, preferably with mental health or addictions experience
· Licensed in Manitoba
· Experience working with addictions
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
· Good communication skills, verbal and written
· Emergency First Aid/CPR Level C
· Excellent physical and mental health
· Available to work various shifts
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, a clear Child Abuse Registry Check and acceptable Prior Contact Checks
· ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), NCVI, Mental Health First Aid, Safe Talk, preferred
· Knowledge of Resiliency preferred
· Knowledge of Aboriginal customs, traditions and beliefs will be considered an asset.

Salary Range: H3 YASU $38.63 - $47.00
