MINIMAL FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related study area, including laboratory analysis techniques
OR
- Completion of a Community College course in a related discipline with one years = directly-related experience.
OR
- High school completion with job-related options with a minimum of four years = directly-related experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- This position is to support a project on directed evolution using new-generation CRISPR/Cas13 technologies to understand mechanisms of drug resistance in small cell lung cancer and T cell development. Thus, the following technical experience is a requirement for this position:
- Experience with CRISPR/Cas13 gene editing techniques.
- Experience with CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) gene knockdown techniques.
- Proficiency handling in vitro models of small cell lung cancer.
- Experience generating and handling lentiviruses.
- Proficiency using a Cytek Aurora Spectral Flow cytometer for multiplexed flow cytometry.
- Experience with molecular cloning.
- Experience with stem cell culture.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as western blotting and qPCR.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
- A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
OTHER JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with job-related software such as Word/WordPerfect, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Ability to adapt techniques, to plan and carry out experiments and procedures under general direction
- Initiative and ability to master new and difficult techniques through further education or training.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
- Design and conduct experiments utilizing specialized cellular and molecular biology techniques, and analyse data with some general input from the supervisor.
- Operate/maintain specialized equipment used for cell culture, flow cytometry and western blotting.
- Perform literature searches, prepare figures and write summary data reports.
- May be required to perform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
