We are seeking an experienced and skilled Mold Maker / Tool Leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of molds used in our manufacturing process, ensuring the production of high-quality products. This role will also include leadership duties, such as supervising the tooling team, coordinating projects, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Mold Fabrication and Maintenance:
- Build, repair, and modify molds according to specifications.
- Maintain molds to ensure optimal performance and longevity, performing adjustments and modifications as needed.
- Leadership and Team Coordination:
- Lead the tooling team, assigning tasks and supervising work to meet production goals.
- Train and mentor junior team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and skill development.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:
- Diagnose and resolve issues with molds or tooling equipment, minimizing downtime and maintaining production efficiency.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to identify tooling requirements and resolve any production challenges.
- Project Management:
- Coordinate tooling projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
- Keep accurate records of mold maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Process Improvement:
- Evaluate current tooling practices and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Stay updated on industry advancements in tooling technology and recommend implementation when beneficial.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mold Maker or Tool Leader in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading or supervising a team in a similar role.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, CAD software, and precision measurement tools.
- Strong understanding of mold materials and injection molding processes.
- Ability to operate CNC, lathes, and milling machines.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform work that may require standing for extended periods.
