About Custom Cubes Custom Cubes specializes in shipping container sales, rentals, and custom modifications for commercial and industrial uses. Operating out of our production facilities in British Columbia and Alberta, we build purpose-driven container structures for clients across Canada and the United States.
We are hiring an experienced Fabrication and Welding Supervisor to join our Annacis Island shop in Delta, BC. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this is a hands-on role where you will manage our fabrication and welding crew. You will support Team Leaders, ensure CWB compliance, maintain strict quality standards, and drive Lean manufacturing and 5S practices on the floor. Your main goal is to keep fabrication work safe, efficient, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate a fabrication crew of roughly 10 welders, working alongside Team Leaders.
- Train and mentor Team Leaders, while overseeing the onboarding, performance, and skill development of new welders.
- Act as the designated CWB Welding Supervisor for the company, ensuring all procedures, qualifications, and audits meet compliance standards.
- Implement and maintain Lean manufacturing practices on the shop floor. This includes visual management, standardizing workflows, and solving root-cause problems to reduce waste.
- Promote strict safety standards. Keep work areas organized, enforce safety policies, and immediately correct unsafe conditions.
- Drive daily 5S habits in the fabrication area, focusing on tool accountability, material control, and routine housekeeping audits.
- Build and maintain fabrication schedules based on the master production plan, adjusting daily tasks to hit deadlines.
- Organize labor, equipment, and materials to match production priorities.
- Perform quality checks during the fabrication process and upon completion to ensure all work matches approved drawings and CWB standards before moving to the next stage.
- Review blueprints and fabrication needs with the Design and Production teams to clear up any missing details before cutting or welding starts.
- Forecast material and tooling needs. Work closely with Procurement to prevent shortages of steel, consumables, and other supplies.
- Track shop productivity, downtime, and rework, using Lean methods to fix bottlenecks and improve production flow.
- Collaborate with Project Coordination, Design, Procurement, and Management to keep projects moving smoothly.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid CWB Welding Supervisor qualification and the eligibility to act as the designated Welding Supervisor for Custom Cubes.
- At least 5 years of experience managing welding or fabrication teams.
- Solid background in scheduling shop floor work and juggling multiple projects.
- Thorough understanding of welding procedures, fabrication methods, technical drawings, and quality control.
- Clear leadership skills to organize, manage, and hold a production team accountable.
- Practical experience running Lean manufacturing and 5S programs in a shop environment.
- Familiarity with inventory tracking, material planning, and procurement.
- Comfortable managing budgets, strict deadlines, and production schedules.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project for tracking data and scheduling. Experience with ERP or MRP software is a bonus.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) is preferred.

The right person works well with Team Leaders, uses data to manage the schedule, and holds the line on safety, quality, and CWB compliance.
You will take ownership of the fabrication department's output while staying aligned with the Production Manager's broader plan. We want someone who builds their team up, fixes problems at the source, and turns 5S principles into daily habits that improve delivery times, shop organization, and overall productivity.
