Position: Embroidery Lead - Digitization, Campus Outfitters
Reports to: Supervisor, In-house Garment Production, Campus Outfitters
Total Number of Reports: 4-5 Indirect Reports
Division: Retail
Location: North York, Dufferin & Steeles, On site
Pay Rate: $42,000/Annum
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll lead day-to-day garment decoration production, mentoring and delegating work to Garment Decoration Clerks while upholding department standards for quality, accuracy, and safety. You’ll operate and troubleshoot embroidery, and direct-to-film transfer equipment, perform regular quality checks, and keep the production area clean and organized. On the digitizing side, you’ll create and prepare artwork for embroidery using tools such as Wilcom, Photoshop, and Illustrator, selecting stitch types, density, and underlay appropriate to each fabric and design. You’ll run test samples, refine files based on results and feedback, and produce mock-ups for customer review and Trademarks & Licensing approvals.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Lead
- Directs the daily production in support of the Supervisor In-house Garment Production
- Mentors Garment Decoration Clerks in daily production tasks
- Delegates daily production tasks to Garment Decoration Clerks
- Upholds department standards for quality, accuracy, and safety as a role model for other employees
- Ensure all imprint equipment is operating properly, take appropriate actions to correct any issues
- Dedicated to creating a high-quality product that consistently meets product specifications
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy production space.
- Maintains strong communication with the Supervisor of In-house Garment Production
- Decorating garments using embroidery, printing or heat transfers
- Performing production quality control on a regular basis
Graphic Design and Digitizing
- Designs a variety of artwork files in appropriate decoration formats using applicable software (Wilcom, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Determine appropriate stitch types (satin, fill, running), density, and underlay for different fabric types to prevent distortion.
- Communicate with sales staff or clients regarding design feasibility and revisions.
- Run test samples on embroidery machines to ensure quality,
- Creates mock-ups for customers and Trademarks & Licensing approvals
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary degree, or equivalent combination of education/experience
- 5 years’ production experience preferred
- Post-secondary education in clothing and textiles an asset
