GENERAL SURGEON
Department and Program Overview
The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at Humber River Health is seeking a full-time general surgeon with a subspecialty focus on breast surgery to join our team. Fellowship training in breast oncology is required. Candidates with a specific interest and training in oncoplastic surgery, and MIS will be considered an asset. Candidates with an interest in clinical program development, innovation, teaching, community outreach, and research are desired.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will join a supportive team of 14 general surgeons with expertise in colorectal, breast surgery, endocrine surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and hernias, ACS, bariatric surgery, MIS and robotic surgery.
The Breast Cancer Program at HRH has a dedicated breast centre with a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, breast surgeons, medical oncologist, a breast health navigator, and plastic surgery support. We employ various modern technologies and techniques in breast cancer treatment including radioactive seed localization. We aim to provide the highest standard of care for our patients.
Resources include elective OR time, clinic, and on call responsibilities. The candidate will be expected to assist the Division of General Surgery with teaching commitments and apply for an academic appointment in the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
In addition to demonstrated clinical excellence and outstanding interpersonal skills, candidates must have an MD or equivalent, have completed an accredited general surgery training program, and additional fellowship training concentrated in breast oncology. They must be a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada or equivalent. The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario
