Job Overview
We are seeking a Centreline Paint Truck Driver to join our road marking team. This is a highly specialized role operating centerline/long-line paint trucks to apply pavement markings on highways, municipal roads, and commercial sites. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in paint truck operation or heavy vehicle driving, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality, safe work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a centreline (long-line) paint truck to apply traffic lines and road markings in accordance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of paint truck systems, including compressors, spray guns, pumps, tanks, and glass bead dispensers.
- Ensure proper alignment and spacing of pavement markings using on-board guidance systems, cameras, and measurement tools.
- Monitor paint flow, pressure gauges, and temperature controls while operating the truck to maintain consistent application quality.
- Coordinate with ground crew, foreman, and traffic control personnel using two-way radio communication.
- Mix and load traffic paint and reflective glass beads safely, ensuring correct ratios and application specifications.
- Record detailed logs of daily production, materials used, distance marked, and maintenance requirements.
- Assist with basic maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of the truck and spray systems.
- Comply with all traffic safety, environmental, and provincial transportation regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Class 3 or Class 1 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean abstract (air brake endorsement preferred).
- Experience operating a centreline/long-line paint truck is highly preferred. Training may be provided to candidates with strong commercial driving experience and mechanical aptitude.
- Understanding of traffic marking materials (e.g., waterborne, MMA, thermoplastic) and their handling requirements is an asset.
- Comfortable working night shifts, weekends (when necessary), and in varying weather conditions, as dictated by project needs.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with paint crew and flaggers.
- Physically fit with the ability to lift and load materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Mechanically inclined; capable of conducting minor equipment repairs and routine maintenance.
