Reliability Engineer (Contract)
Location: Thunder Bay, Ontario (Onsite)
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced maintenance and reliability professional to support a large industrial manufacturing facility in Thunder Bay.
This is a hands-on role focused on building and organizing equipment asset hierarchies, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and maintenance master data. You'll spend time both on the plant floor and in the office, working directly with maintenance, engineering, operations, and storeroom teams to gather equipment information and build accurate maintenance records.
While this role involves the day-to-day work of documenting assets and creating BOMs, we're looking for someone who can take ownership of the effort, lead conversations with plant personnel, and ensure the work is completed accurately and efficiently.
Applicants must currently reside in or near Thunder Bay, Ontario. Relocation and travel expenses are not provided.
Responsibilities
- Build equipment asset hierarchies and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Walk the plant to identify and verify equipment, components, and spare parts
- Read equipment drawings, manuals, and OEM documentation
- Organize and maintain equipment and maintenance master data
- Partner with maintenance, engineering, operations, and storeroom personnel to gather and validate information
- Lead equipment reviews and drive completion of assigned areas
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and well organized
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance, reliability, mechanical maintenance, or industrial engineering
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate work across multiple departments
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall computer proficiency
- Experience organizing large amounts of technical data with a high level of accuracy
- Strong knowledge of industrial equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, piping, valves, compressors, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, steam systems, instrumentation, and rotating equipment
- Experience developing equipment Bills of Materials (BOMs), asset hierarchies, or maintenance master data
- Ability to interpret equipment drawings, manuals, and parts documentation
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
Preferred
- Experience with CMMS/EAM systems (Dynamics 365, SAP PM, Maximo, Infor EAM, Avantis, Fiix, etc.)
- Experience in pulp & paper, mining, heavy manufacturing, chemicals, or other continuous process industries
- Background in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or a mechanical trade

Monday-Friday, 8-hour days. Local candidates only.
Pay: $70.00-$90.00 per hour
