Prairie Valley Lodge is a boutique licensed care home located in beautiful Summerland, BC. We provide exceptional, personalized care in a warm and welcoming home environment where residents are treated with dignity, respect, and genuine affection.
We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team for maternity leave coverage, with the potential for an ongoing position based on future operational needs.

About the Role
This is a hands-on nursing position that combines clinical expertise with direct resident care. The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting residents while providing professional nursing services.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, hands-on care to residents
- Administer and monitor medications
- Conduct resident assessments and ongoing health monitoring
- Develop, implement, and update care plans
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacists, therapists, and community health professionals
- Support and mentor care staff
- Participate in admissions, care conferences, and resident reviews
- Assist with licensing compliance and quality improvement initiatives
Direct Care Duties
The successful candidate must be comfortable assisting with all aspects of resident care, including:
- Personal care and hygiene assistance
- Bathing and grooming
- Toileting and continence care
- Feeding assistance
- Transfers and mobility support
- Medication administration
- Health monitoring and assessments
- End-of-life comfort measures, when appropriate
- Participation in activities and social engagement with residents
We Are Looking for Someone Who:
- Is currently licensed and in good standing as an LPN in British Columbia
- Enjoys providing direct, hands-on resident care
- Has excellent clinical assessment skills
- Works independently and exercises sound judgment
- Is warm, compassionate, patient, and genuinely enjoys working with seniors
- Values relationship-based care over task-based care
- Has strong leadership and mentoring abilities
- Is reliable, organized, flexible, and detail-oriented
- Appreciates a smaller, home-like environment rather than a large institutional facility
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in residential care, assisted living, long-term care, dementia care, mental health, or community nursing
- Experience supervising or mentoring care staff
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
