To be eligible for the Canada Summer Job Program you must:
- be between 18 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

Position Summary:
The Educator is responsible for supporting the learning, development, and well-being of children through high-quality culturally affirming early learning and childcare experiences. Practice is grounded in ICFC’s mission, vision, and values and aligns with Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework. The Educator contributes to a warm, welcoming, culturally responsive environment where children experience belonging, play and learn every day.
The Educator works collaboratively with the room team to maintain consistent routines, supervision, positive guidance, health and safety standards, and respectful communication with families.
Key Responsibilities
1) Child Supervision, Safety, and Well-Being
- Maintains active supervision and ensures children’s safety at all times (indoors, outdoors, transitions, and routines)
- Supports daily care routines respectfully (arrival, toileting/diapering, dressing, rest, mealtimes, departure)
- Follows ICFC policies and Alberta Child Care Licensing requirements related to supervision, safety, hygiene, and sleep/rest
- Ensure allergy awareness and safe food practices as assigned
- Completes required documentation accurately and promptly (e.g., accident/incident reports, medication forms, daily notes) and reports concerns immediately to the Room Supervisor/Managing Supervisor
2) Guidance, Relationships, and Inclusion
- Build warm, responsive relationships that support children’s sense of belonging and emotional well-being
- Uses respectful, strengths-based guidance aligned with ICFC guidance policy and Flight (co-regulation, prevention strategies, clear expectations, restorative approaches)
- Demonstrates cultural humility and inclusive practice, respects diverse family structures, languages, identities, cultures, and traditions
- Collaborate with the team on consistent approaches for children who need additional support and seek guidance early when needed
3) Curriculum and Flight-Informed Practice
- Participates in emergent curriculum planning based on children’s interests, strengths, and ideas
- Sets up engaging learning environments and invitations to play that support exploration, creativity, problem-solving, and identity
- Observes children’s play and learning and shares reflections with the team to inform planning
- Supports home language and cultural identity in daily practice through materials, visuals, songs, books, and family input
4) Documentation and Communication with Families
- Contributes to documentation (observations, photos, learning notes) and supports portfolios and learning stories as directed
- Communicates respectfully and professionally with families at drop-off/pick-up and through approved ICFC communication methods
- Maintains confidentiality and protects the privacy of children, families, and staff
5) Teamwork and Professional Practice
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to maintain consistent practice across the room (routines, supervision, guidance, and environmental care)
- Participate in staff meetings, training, reflective practice, and professional development
- Maintains professionalism, punctuality, and reliability; communicates promptly about concerns or support needs
- Supports room organization, cleanliness, and shared duties (set-up, tidying, sanitizing, laundry/cleaning tasks as assigned)
- Completes other duties as required within the scope of the role (including time sheets and assigned administrative tasks)
Qualifications / Skills
- Early Learning & Child Care certification as required by Alberta Child Care Licensing (Level 1/2 as applicable to the role)
- Commitment to ICFC mission, vision, and values, and willingness to apply Flight principles in daily practice

Consistency, Reliability, and Accountability
This role requires consistent presence, reliability, and follow-through to ensure child safety, program quality, and a supportive environment for children and colleagues. ICFC understands that medical or personal circumstances may arise. Employees are expected to communicate promptly, participate in planning for coverage, and work with supervisors to access support.
ICFC is committed to reasonable support and, where applicable, accommodation in alignment with legislation and organizational policy. Wage: Competitive salary which includes Accreditation hourly wage top-up
Hours of Work: 7:00am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday ( No Weekends)
