MIAG Centre for Diverse Women & Families is a charitable, community-based organization with over 36 years of serving diverse communities across the Peel Region. Through culturally responsive programs, strategic partnerships, and innovative initiatives, MIAG empowers individuals and families while advancing equity, inclusion, and community well-being.
We are seeking passionate, skilled, and community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors and help shape the organization's strategic direction and long-term impact.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applicants who are committed to community service and governance and who can contribute expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Strategic planning and organizational leadership
- Governance and policy development
- Financial management and sustainability
- Fundraising and resource development
- Volunteer management
- Community development and advocacy
- Legal or human resources
- Partnership building and stakeholder engagement
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:
- Knowledge of the Peel Region, including its diverse communities, opportunities, and emerging social issues.
- Professional experience, education, or demonstrated expertise in one or more of the areas listed above.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaborative decision-making skills.
- A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and community-centered governance.
Commitment
Board members are expected to:
- Attend Board of Directors meetings held every two months (fourth Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., virtual or in-person).
- Review meeting materials in advance and actively participate in strategic governance and decision-making.
- Serve on a Board committee based on interest and expertise (optional but encouraged).
- Act as ambassadors for MIAG by supporting its mission, strategic priorities, and fundraising efforts.
