Job Posting: Health and Safety Representative
Mega Rebar, a rebar fabricator and distributor situated in Maple Ridge, is actively seeking a motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Health and Safety Representative. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity that offers competitive compensation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable handling a variety of safety and administrative tasks for all departments across the facility while supporting multiple team members.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive health and safety culture
- Participate in regular workplace inspections and help identify corrective actions
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other safety initiatives
- Maintain health and safety records and documentation
- Participate in the development and review of health and safety policies and procedures
- Support compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, and company safety policies
- Provide general administrative and clerical support
- Maintain filing systems (physical and digital)
- Data entry
- Carry out other administrative and safety-related duties as required
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of the BC Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong background in developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety programs. I.E. Safe Work Procedures, Safety Orientations, On-Site Risk Assessments, etc.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
- Intermediate proficiency with Office 365
- Quick thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and balance priorities
- Strong oral & written communication skills
- Team oriented
- Quick learner
Assets:
- Previous experience in a construction, manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment is an asset
- Previous experience as a Health & Safety Representative or Joint Health & Safety Committee member is an asset
