ArborMetrics Solutions is currently seeking motivated, highly skilled individuals to fill multiple positions working throughout the province of Manitoba. Preferences will be given to local applicants or applicants that are able to reside in the province of Manitoba.
Mechanical Brush Clearing / Tree Trimming Program Requirements:
This field position aims to clear the right-of-way of tall woody vegetation. All trees must be removed per the widths and specific clearing guidelines set by Manitoba Hydro. In this position, qualified candidates will be responsible for supervising crews and/or contractors in the safe and responsible operation of brush clearing.
- Minimum one (1) year experience working with heavy mechanical vegetation clearing equipment.
- Understanding of the overhead power system, including (but not limited to) Safety Hold Offs, Automatic Circuit Reclosures, and Limits of Approach.
- In addition, candidates will also be required to gain consent from landowners on all mechanical removal of trees for crews and/or contractors.
The following qualifications are considered an asset:
- Degree or diploma in Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or certification in a related field.
- Minimum one (1) year experience reading, interpreting, and working with overhead electrical circuit maps.
- Experience using ArcGIS and mobile data collection software.
Additional Information
- Starting wage is estimated $30.00 - $35.00/hr (40 hours) + available weekly Overtime.
- Overtime may be requested. While in the field a typical work week is 40-60 hours.

- Works outside in all temperatures and weather. Note: excessive heat is possible.
- Possible contact with the environment (i.e., irritating plants, biting, or stinging insects, and dust).
- All positions are required to control various forms of reporting, such as completion of work, vegetation surveys, and monitoring hours of work by contractors.
- Engage with staff to review and understand clearance to work requirements and safety hold off communication.
- Hiking/Walking on uneven terrain.
- May encounter dogs and other animals.
- Must be a self-starter.
- There is no guarantee of duration; however, historically, these projects have been 4 months to multi-year.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
