RESTAURANT HEAD CHEF
Holiday Inn & Suites Mississauga West – Meadowvale is looking for a head chef who is very organized and has experience leading a kitchen and banquet team, doing inventory, weekly food orders, and is knowledgeable on health and safety protocols.

The Head Chef will run the kitchen independently. Training/overseeing other cooks. Work efficiently with great time management skills. The Head Chef is also required to bring forward new seasonal rotational menus as needed. The role of the Head Chef is to make high quality, tasty meals ensuring customers satisfaction and profitability for the business.
Head Chef Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and manage the kitchen and banquet Team.
- Display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment, counselling employees as appropriate and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach.
- Follows proper handling and right temperature of all food products.
- Ensuring the Team maintains cleaning and organization of fridge and freezer
- Manage employee and labor costs
- Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
- Create prep lists for the cooks.
- Manage food costing and inventory.
- Placing orders with all suppliers
- Ensure proper purchasing, receiving and food storage standards in the kitchen.
- Checking quality of food creativity and preparation in the kitchen and suggesting ideas for cooks to be able to complete their tasks efficiently. Providing direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen.
- Teaches preparation according to well defined recipes and follows up and discusses ways of constantly improving the cuisine at the property.
- Maintain standards for food storage, rotation, quality, and appearance. (cleaning and maintaining storage area, spice racks after use).
- Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.
- Establish maintenance and cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas.
- Ensure proper grooming and hygiene standards for all kitchen staffs.
- Interview, hire and train new kitchen staff.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications
- Must have a minimum of two to three years of relevant experience
- Food Handling and Sanitation Certifications required; First Aid and Basic CPR certification an asset.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be computer literate with basic knowledge and understanding of Word, Excel and purchasing management software.
- Extensive knowledge of menu development, insight into marketing, cost and wage control.
- Thorough knowledge of food products, standard recipes and proper preparation always regarding sanitation.
- Ability to coach, manage and conduct performance appraisals for all culinary associates
- Supervise associates and accomplish goals on a timely basis.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external guests with a proven record if conflict resolution.
