Job Description Summary:
- Installation of paper and wire on various homes and commercial structures.
- To implement, supervise and oversee all aspects of services on project sites within the assigned service department. This includes but is not limited to project installation, safety and customer service.
- To supervise on site material, equipment and personnel to meet the project targets, goals and objectives as set by Manager.
- The Supervisor is responsible for employee’s safety.
- To request, implement and supervise labourer/installer’s development and training.
- Team leading including leading by example in professionalism, being respectful/courteous, providing direction and guidance, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of team members, motivating the team, problem solving, upholding the vision of the group, providing great customer service and a good work ethic.
- Supervises and monitors as necessary, all on site operations and customer activities; including installation, field personnel delegation, equipment repair and maintenance and recommendation to the Manager for departmental facility refurbishment and replacement.
- Assist in setting service quality control standards in conjunction with the Manager.
- Ensure stock of common materials and tools.
- Load and empty trailers at the beginning and end of every day; ensure trailers are locked at the end of the day (if applicable).
- Load appropriate project material (If required to load material at L&A shop, loading time is paid up to 30 minutes.)
- Assist Manager with daily scheduling.
- Complete required field paperwork (safety paperwork).
- Upload daily progress pictures of each job site to Google Photos shared albums.
- Communicate with your team to ensure they understand the scope of work and are meeting expectations and deadlines from management.
- Communicate with management to ensure Site Docs locations are created and blueprints/colors are available prior to start of work.
- Monitor material usage and check accuracy of material on site deliveries.
- Communicate with management when consumables are depreciating on site and in trailers.
- Ensure materials required to complete the project are on site prior to starting work and stored in acceptable conditions. Communicate with management if required materials are missing.
- Ensure tools are being used/managed in a responsible and safe manner.
- Communication and compliance with prime contractor and site supervisor.
- Supervise labourer/installers to monitor quality control.
- Delegate daily duties and tasks to labourer/installers.
- Set daily project priorities and take 15 minutes prior to end of day to prepare for the following work day.
- Attend weekly Team Leader meetings if required (communicate with manager).
- Follow equipment preventative maintenance and repair procedure in conjunction with the Manager (including lock out tag out).
- Working with management to hit daily/weekly/monthly targets.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with employees of varying education levels and different languages.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate up to eight employees.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, safety practices/procedures manual.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; geometry skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers.
- Ability to utilize materials with minimal waste.
- Ability to multitask without compromising quality of work.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and details to perform the job in accordance.
- Ability to use required tools and other equipment to install paper and wire to the face of a building.
- Ability to work from heights and/or on ladders.
- Measuring, cutting, preparing materials for assembly and installing of same.
- Ability to work with various metal flashings.
- Ability to install paper and wire within manufacturer's guidelines.
- Ability to install air barriers, rain screens and insulation as per wall type.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Body Movements: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands to handle and feel objects. Must demonstrate agility and keen sense of balance while working at various heights. Must be able to work in confined spaces comfortably.
- Body Senses: The employee must have command of at least four senses: sight, hearing, touch and smell. Specific close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Depth Perception, Clear Vision at 20 feet.
- Strength: The employee must have the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
Licenses & Certificates:
- Required: Valid class 5 drivers license
Working Conditions:
- This position will be working both outdoors and indoors, encounters temperatures that range from –35 to +40 degrees Celsius, all types of weather conditions including snow, heavy rain and sun in muddy/dirty conditions while working at a site (if applicable).
- Typical hours start at 7:00 AM in summer and 8:00 AM in winter for minimum 8.5 hours a day.
- Mandatory 1 hour break required per 8.5 hour working day. 30 minutes unpaid, 30 minutes paid if 8 hours are worked. If it is less than an 8 hour work day, these breaks will be unpaid. Breaks may be split into two 30 minute breaks or combined into one 1 hour break based on Supervisor’s discretion.
- Typical clock in time for out of town work is from the exit highway off of the perimeter highway onward to site and back to perimeter entry highway.
- The normal driving conditions/hazards will apply. Travel will be in all types of weather including heavy rain and below freezing temperatures with snow conditions.
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
