We are a growing litigation firm committed to providing exceptional legal services with professionalism, integrity, and client-focused care. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and motivated Law Clerk / Law Assistant to join our team.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will provide legal and administrative support to our lawyers. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and format legal documents, correspondence, and court forms.
- Open, organize, maintain, and close client files.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates.
- Communicate professionally with clients, counsel, courts, and third parties.
- Conduct legal and factual research as directed.
- Prepare document briefs and organize disclosure.
- Manage calendars and limitation dates.
- Draft routine legal correspondence and documents.
- Assist with file management, billing, and time entry.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with firm policies and applicable professional standards.
- Perform general administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- Law Clerk or Legal Assistant diploma/certificate from a recognized institution, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Ontario law firm (preferred).
- Knowledge of Ontario court procedures and legal documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Experience with legal practice management software is an asset.
- Experience with bookkeeping is an asset.
- Experience with graphic design is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Professional, reliable, and client-service oriented.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following practice areas is considered an asset:
- General Civil Litigation
- Estate Litigation
- Mortgage Enforcement
