La Fontaine Source De Jeunesse Cosmetic Surgery Clinic is an established ambulatory surgical facility in downtown Toronto specializing in advanced medical and surgical treatments. We are expanding our specialized Hemorrhoid Clinic program and are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive patient consultations, assessments, and ongoing care for patients with anorectal conditions.
This is an exciting opportunity for an NP who is interested in developing expertise within a specialized clinic environment and working in collaboration with our medical team.
Position Overview
The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessing patients presenting with hemorrhoids and related anorectal concerns, developing treatment plans, providing education, and coordinating appropriate care pathways.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and an interest in gastroenterology, colorectal health, surgery, or outpatient specialty care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient consultations and clinical assessments
- Assess patients presenting with:
- Hemorrhoids
- Rectal bleeding
- Anal discomfort/pain
- Anal fissures
- Suspected fistula symptoms
- Other anorectal concerns
- Perform focused anorectal assessments within scope and competency
- Perform anoscopy if trained and privileged
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans
- Provide conservative hemorrhoid management recommendations
- Educate patients regarding treatment options, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes
- Identify appropriate candidates for hemorrhoid procedures
- Provide follow-up care and monitor patient progress
- Coordinate referrals and collaboration with physicians/specialists when required
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and EMR records
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinic protocols
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Gastroenterology
- Colorectal care
- General surgery
- Primary care
- Emergency medicine
- Specialty outpatient clinics
- Experience with anorectal assessment is an asset
- Experience with anoscopy and/or hemorrhoid banding is an asset
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
- Excellent patient communication skills
Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Nurse Practitioner (RN(EC))
- Authorized to practice as an NP in Ontario
- Professional liability insurance
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong commitment to patient safety and ethical practice
