ASCO Aerospace Canada is a division of Montana Aerospace, with our facility located in Delta, BC. We are looking for a Finisher to join our team at the Canadian operations.
Job Duties
- Perform finishing operations on machined aircraft components using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Perform edge breaking, de-burring, and blending of machined parts to specification.
- Drill and ream parts as required by work instructions and engineering drawings.
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and workmanship standards are met.
- Safely operate hand and power tools and maintain equipment in good working condition.
- Read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and tolerance specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area through regular housekeeping activities.
- Support and participate in 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Keep informed of production priorities and adjust work accordingly to meet schedule requirements.
- Report any quality concerns, damaged parts, equipment issues, or production problems to the Supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve production and quality objectives.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures and report any safety concerns.
- Participate in training provided by ASCO or external providers.
Education and Experience
- Previous cold work or related finishing experience is preferred.
- Educational background or experience in a field requiring surface treatment skills, such as Automotive Body Work, is considered a strong asset.
- Previous manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
- Basic blueprint reading skills with the ability to understand and interpret drawing tolerances and specifications preferred.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to accommodate flexible work schedules, including shift work.
Applicants must have the ability, or willingness to learn:
- Basic blueprint reading, to understand and interpret drawing tolerance specifications.
- Aerospace specification requirements
- Quality system requirements
- Safe operation of hand and power tools
This is a physically demanding job and requires the following:
- Excellent hand and eye coordination
- Ability to perform metal finishing work while standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs (cranes and lifting devices are available)
- Safe use of hand and power tools
- Ability to wear extensive Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout their shift.
