Floor Manager / Sommelier

The Oxley is seeking an experienced Floor Manager / Sommelier to join our leadership team in the heart of Yorkville.
This role is ideal for a hospitality professional who is equally comfortable leading a busy dining room, coaching staff, building guest relationships, and delivering a thoughtful wine experience. We are looking for someone who leads from the floor, sets a high standard for service, and genuinely enjoys hospitality.

For over 15 years, The Oxley has been a neighbourhood institution known for genuine hospitality, a strong food program, an extensive wine list, classic cocktails, and one of Toronto's best pub experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily service and manage the dining room floor
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and resolve service issues professionally
- Train, coach, and develop front-of-house team members
- Support hiring, scheduling, and performance management
- Maintain service standards and operational excellence
- Manage reservations, seating plans, and guest flow
- Drive wine sales through education, recommendations, and staff development
- Assist with wine list maintenance, inventory, and ordering
- Work closely with ownership, chefs, and management to achieve business goals
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of management experience in a high-quality restaurant
- Strong wine knowledge; Sommelier certification preferred (Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or equivalent)
- Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate teams
- Strong understanding of food, wine, beer, and cocktails
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Smart Serve Certification required

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $55,000–$60,000
- Management tip-out averaging $500 per week (approximately $26,000 annually)
- Expected total compensation: $81,000–$86,000 annually
