Job Description
As a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) Shop Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective scheduling of maintenance tasks while maintaining accurate records and handling various logistical responsibilities. Your duties will involve overseeing shipping and receiving processes, maintaining inventory accuracy, and serving as the main technician in the shop, specializing in welding and other technical tasks related to DPF systems.
Key duties and responsibilities
Core Technical Work:
- Perform DPF cleaning, restoration, and basic repair tasks in accordance with established procedures
- Carry out standard welding and metal repair work required for DPF housings and exhaust components (no advanced fabrication)
- Inspect units for damage, cracks, or blockages and determine basic serviceability
- Disassemble and reassemble DPF units safely and correctly
Equipment & Maintenance:
- Operate cleaning equipment, ovens, air systems, and basic shop tools safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance (filters, connections, wear items)
- Report any equipment issues or irregular performance promptly
Inspection & Quality:
- Inspect incoming and outgoing units to ensure work meets company standards
- Verify cleaning results and ensure units are ready for return to service
- Flag units that require additional work or are beyond repair
Process Execution:
- Follow standard operating procedures step-by-step with consistency
- Handle materials and components properly to avoid damage or contamination
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, including tracking units through the process
- Ensure all paperwork related to maintenance, repairs, and logistics is accurately completed and up to date.
- Upload relevant documentation to OneDrive or Odoo similar platforms for easy access and organization.
- Handle shipping and receiving processes, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries of DPF components and equipment.
Safety & Housekeeping:
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE and equipment use
- Keep work area clean, organized, and free of hazards
- Identify and report safety concerns immediately
Inventory Management:
- Take ownership of inventory accuracy by conducting regular checks and updates.
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as ordering supplies, tracking usage, and optimizing stock levels.
Customer Interaction and Communication:
- Engage with walk-in traffic, addressing inquiries, and providing assistance as necessary.
Collaboration and Training:
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Provide training and guidance to new technicians to ensure smooth integration into the team.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to health and safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
- Participate in safety training sessions and promote a culture of safety awareness among colleagues.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required experience and skills
Relevant Skill Set:
- Technical expertise in welding and other mechanical tasks related to DPF systems is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills for managing paperwork, inventory, and logistics efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in a workshop environment.
- Customer service skills for addressing inquiries and providing assistance to walk-in customers.

- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks associated with maintenance and repair work.
