Alliance Employment Group is looking to hire a Operations Manager for our airport client in Goffs, Halifax.

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Unit Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-volume production environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, employee safety, compliance with company policies, quality standards, and overall team performance.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited for someone with strong experience in operations, safety, food manufacturing, labor relations, and team management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily unit operations and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Support and maintain a strong safety culture for all employees.
- Ensure labor controls are in place and operating effectively.
- Conduct and monitor compliance audits and inspections.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address operational or compliance issues.
- Ensure compliance with company safety best practices.
- Support Total Quality Management initiatives and lead problem-solving efforts.
- Identify operational issues and implement effective solutions to improve performance.
- Support management with security, risk management, and operational concerns.
- Mentor, train, and develop supervisors and employees on company policies and procedures.
- Build a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environment.
- Manage and lead a large staff, with up to approximately 10 direct reports depending on the unit.
- Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to improve workplace efficiency and performance.
- Maintain a strong customer-focused approach while achieving operational goals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Business Operations, or a related field preferred, or four years of comparable operations management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of safety experience, preferably within a multi-site organization.
- Previous experience in an Operations Manager or similar leadership role.
- Experience managing a large team in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous labor relations experience.
- Experience in a high-volume food manufacturing or production environment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations is an asset.
- Experience with LEAN manufacturing, supply chain, or continuous improvement is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement operational changes.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work a rotating schedule of 55+ hours per week as required.
- Shifts may be 10+ hours.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, push, pull, and move throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move products, equipment, and supplies weighing 25+ lbs.
- Production kitchen environments may involve exposure to varying temperatures and elevated noise levels.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10%.
