BrainTrust Canada is seeking compassionate, skilled, and motivated Clinical Counsellors to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialized counselling services to individuals living with acquired brain injury, as well as their caregivers and family members. Working within a supportive interdisciplinary team, you will help clients navigate the emotional, psychological, and life changes that can accompany brain injury while promoting resilience, healing, and improved quality of life.

About the Role
This is a casual contract position based from our Kelowna office.
Clinical Counsellors provide individualized counselling services to adults living with acquired brain injury, along with counselling and support for caregivers and family members. Services are delivered using evidence-informed, trauma-informed, and person-centered approaches that recognize the unique cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and psychosocial impacts of brain injury.
Working alongside an experienced interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, you will support clients in building coping strategies, improving emotional well-being, strengthening relationships, and working toward meaningful personal goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual counselling services that may include:
- Supporting individuals adjusting to life after acquired brain injury
- Providing counselling for caregivers and family members
- Assisting clients in managing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, and life transitions
- Supporting emotional regulation, identity reconstruction, and adjustment following injury
- Developing individualized treatment goals and counselling plans
- Promoting resilience, independence, self-advocacy, and overall well-being
- Providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and person-centered care
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation
- Complete required case notes, assessments, and reporting requirements
- Adhere to professional standards, privacy legislation, ethical guidelines, and organizational policies
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- A Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Clinical Counselling (MA)
- Current registration in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW) or the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC)
- Experience providing counselling services to adults, families, or individuals living with disabilities, neurological conditions, or complex health needs is considered an asset
- Knowledge of, or willingness to develop expertise in, the impacts of acquired brain injury on cognition, emotional regulation, communication, behaviour, identity, and mental health
- Strong assessment, counselling, and clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team
