Role Summary:
Our London Branch is currently looking for a Fire Alarm System Estimator / Designer to join the team to support the Southwest Ontario region (Stoney Creek, Kitchener/Waterloo, London and Windsor territories). This position reports to the Branch Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing fire alarm system designs and drawings to support quoting activities, project execution, and change order resolution across the region. This is a new vacancy.
Key Job Responsibilities:
· Generate fire alarm system designs for the purposes of supporting sales representatives for quoting and create controls equipment layout and riser diagram drawings for secured fire alarm upgrades, replacements and new system sales.
· Generate and update FireWorks graphics screen drawings as required.
· Generate and update air aspiration system calculations and layout drawings.
· Assist branch operations / Project Managers by providing solutions to requested change orders or site-specific situations.
· Coordinate with Sales Representatives and the Installation Manager to obtain site survey information necessary for accurate system designs and estimates.
· Review all project documentation and scope of work during bid process to ensure designs are complete and accurate prior to submission.
· Continuously review and develop strategies to ensure optimal customer satisfaction.
· Communicate technical issues and problems to the appropriate levels of personnel and contribute to problem resolution.
· Responsible for complying with all company standards and procedures.
· Follow established health and safety procedures; report all accidents and hazards to the appropriate personnel.
· Foster TEAM working relationships by promoting teamwork, strong team and management relations, and high morale.
· Review all system designs for renovations, modifications, and new system installations to ensure all documentation and scope of work are present prior to start of work.
· Manage multiple concurrent design assignments to meet project deadlines.
· Ensure all required EH&S policies, documentation, and training are maintained as current.
· Deal with customer inquiries as related to the role, ensuring a timely and courteous response.
· Accountable for acting in a safe and responsible manner.
· Other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
· Overtime may be required.
Qualifications:
· Must have 5 years of experience in related industry
· CFAA Certification preferred
· Post-Secondary diploma or degree in building systems, electronic technology, networking or equivalent knowledge / work experience an asset
· Proficiency in Microsoft Windows based computer systems and applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
· Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and AutoCAD plug-in applications
· Proficiency in the reading, understanding and use of construction documents including specifications, site and floor plans, riser diagrams, contemplated change notices, etc.
· Solid understanding of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Code, applicable CAN/ULC Standards, and NFPA Standards
· Strong working knowledge of Edwards Fire Products including EST panels preferred
· Familiarity with Edwards fire alarm system components and an understanding of Edwards fire alarm system architecture is considered an asset
· Demonstrated ability using Chubb's Fire System Editor (FSEdit) is considered an asset
· Familiarity with other graphic editing software as applicable to set tasks, such as Edwards' FireWorks for Windows is considered an asset
· Proficient computer skills (Office 365, Cloud, and other web-based application usage)

· Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000
