Department: Patient Food Services

As a Cook in our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the nutritional needs of patients are met with delicious and wholesome meals. You will work collaboratively with the facility's dietary team to plan menus, prepare meals, and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Secondary School Graduate or equivalent required
- Completion of a Culinary Chef’s Certificate program or equivalent required
- Food Safety Certification is required
- Knowledge of cooking in large volumes/baking procedures and methods required
- Related experience with all aspects of food handling required
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools required
- Excellent working knowledge of Canadian Dietetic Association Clinical Dietetics is required
- Knowledge of infection control principles is required
Skills/Abilities:
- Must have the ability to participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to function well in a team-orientated climate
- Ability to work in a fast paced high stress environment required
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem solving skills required
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Must be physically fit as position requires prolonged standing and walking
- Must have knowledge of proper body mechanics
- Excellent attendance and work record required
- Must demonstrate commitment to ensure their safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers and visitors.
- Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset
