We are currently seeking an Occasional / Casual Registered Nurse. We are seeking a nurse with Operating Room Experience.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse – Outpatient Sedation, you will support our surgical team on an as-needed basis, providing safe, compassionate sedation care for patients undergoing outpatient oral surgery procedures, including wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, and other surgical treatments.
This role is ideal for an RN who enjoys flexible scheduling, values patient-focused care, and has a strong background in sedation or perioperative nursing. We are specifically looking for a nurse with background in the Operating Room in the hospital As the needs are very similar.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centred nursing care throughout the perioperative period for sedation cases.
- Perform pre-operative assessments and patient preparation for sedation.
- Establish and manage IV access; assist with sedation medication administration per protocol.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs, sedation depth, and safety parameters.
- Support post-operative recovery and provide clear discharge instructions and reassurance.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in safety protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth, positive patient experience.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Mandatory.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Mandatory.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Strong asset.
- Must have some experience in the Operating Room previously in a hospital setting
- Demonstrated experience in outpatient sedation, anaesthesia support, or perioperative nursing.
- Strong IV skills and familiarity with emergency response protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, reassuring bedside manner.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in oral surgery, dental sedation, ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, or emergency/critical care.
