Your Opportunity:
The booking clerk in the Pediatric OR Booking Office liaises with the surgeons' offices, Anesthesia, Pediatric OR, Day Ward, PreAdmission Clinic/Same Day Admit Clinic (PAC/SDA), and patients. Ensures efficient operating room bookings, wait listing and scheduling of patients requiring surgery and PreAdmission Clinic appointments prior to surgery. Gathers and reviews patient documentation to ensure accurate communication to various departments. Maintains statistical records and performs other related clerical duties such as, preoperative phone calls to patients and families. Reports to the Patient Care Manager. This position will assist with scheduling tasks throughout the OR, GI, &/or Operative Services.
Description:
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
You will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program. Knowledge of computer programs including Connect Care, Netcare, WFM, e-People are required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Courteous and pleasant telephone / email manners required. Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work under pressure with minimal supervision required. Proven reliability and dependability required. Must be able to maintain confidential information is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a Pediatric OR, Pediatric Day Ward, Pediatric PAC/SDAS and Pediatric OR Booking Office setting preferred. WFM experience & scheduling experience is preferred.
