The Role
We’re looking for a motivated, customer focused individual who thrives both at the counter and on the phone. This is not a passive retail job. You’ll be a central presence in our store greeting customers, understanding their workflows, and matching them to the right tools while also conducting proactive outreach by phone and email, setting up and executing shop visits, and qualifying customer needs to recommend the best solution for their application.
Needs qualification is a core part of this role. Whether a customer walks in off the street or you’re calling a shop you’ve never spoken to before, your job is to ask the right questions, understand how they work, and recommend the tool that actually fits, not just the one on the shelf.
This is a ground-floor opportunity with real growth. You don’t need to walk in knowing every product line we’ll train you. What we need is someone who genuinely enjoys talking to people, has a natural curiosity for how things work, and wants to grow into a true industrial sales role over time.
What You’ll Do
- Provide excellent counter service — greet customers, ask the right questions, and match them to the right tool for their specific application
- Conduct proactive outreach to existing and prospective customers by phone and email check in, introduce new products, and set up shop visits
- Visit customer shops to assess workflows, identify needs, and build lasting relationships
- Qualify customer requirements in depth understand their materials, volumes, processes, and budget before making a recommendation
- Handle inbound calls and emails with the same care and expertise you’d give an in-person customer
- Learn our key product lines (Festool, Felder, Mafell, Lamello, and others) and develop genuine product expertise over time
- Take orders, process transactions, and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with the team on quotes, backorder updates, and special orders
What We’re Looking For
- A natural communicator equally comfortable at a counter, on the phone, in an email, or sitting across from a shop owner
- A good qualifier you ask before you recommend, and you listen more than you talk
- Curious and eager to learn woodworking or trades experience is a definite asset, but not a dealbreaker for the right candidate
- Self-motivated you don’t need to be told to pick up the phone when the counter is quiet
- Comfortable with technology such as email, CRM, point-of-sale systems
- Reliable, professional, and a good fit for a small team environment
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for customer shop visits
Nice to Have
- Experience in a tool, building supply, or industrial equipment retail environment
- Background in cabinetry, millwork, carpentry, or a related trade
- Previous inside or outside sales experience
Compensation & Growth
We offer a competitive base salary commensurate with experience. As you build product knowledge and develop your customer relationships, a commission structure is added to reward your results with real earning potential for someone who takes the sales side seriously.
The growth path here is genuine: this role can evolve into a full industrial sales position covering capital equipment (CNC, wide belt sanders, panel saws, and more) for the right person. We’re not hiring for a counter job we’re hiring for someone who wants to build something.
Pay: $48,000.00-$58,000.00 per year
