We just celebrated our 30th year in business and have been an OH&S-approved training agency since 1997. We continue to deliver training to our clients at our school and at their locations throughout Alberta.
Position Summary
We’re looking for a student-centric, knowledgeable, and personable First Aid Trainer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has strong organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
· Create a welcoming, interactive and respectful environment for our students.
· Teach the students the knowledge and skills of Basic and Intermediate First Aid.
· Meet the requirements of our Quality Management Plan and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
What You Bring to the Table
· Passion for teaching, learning and entertaining.
· An understanding of the principles of Adult Learning.
· 2 years’ minimum experience in emergency services (Medical First Responder).
· 2 years’ previous experience as a trainer in a nationally recognized first aid program (Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance, Heart and Stroke Foundation, etc.).
· Strong communication skills, especially oral, for effective course content delivery, written for accurate completion of paperwork, and reading for interpretation of course material.
· Be able to communicate professionally, clearly, calmly, and in a helpful manner at all times in both oral and written formats.
· Good physical condition that allows you to sit, stand and walk for 2-3 hours several times a day, and must be able to perform all the floor skills involved with teaching first aid, including CPR, patient log rolls, splinting, and lifting a mannequin.
· Must be able to lift/push/pull 30-50 lbs. comfortably several times a day.
· Great time management skills and experience meeting deadlines.
· Awareness of inclusive communication, cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed.
· Knowledge of Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, Code, and Regulations.
· Able to stay calm and friendly in a fast-paced, team-based setting.
· Team player with a good sense of humour.
· A valid driver’s license.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office, emails, Word and online systems.
· Comfortable interacting with clients with limited English skills.
· Capable of solving simple computer-related issues.
· Ability to work some weekends.
