Overview
Projection Moulds Inc. is seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker/ Mould Maker who would be responsible for machining, assembling, and fitting plastic injection moulds serving the automotive, healthcare, and proprietary industries. This role involves working with a variety of machining equipment, and high-precision measuring tools.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1. Tooling Design & Interpretation
- Read and interpret CAD models, part files, and 2D drawings.
- Identify and adjust dimensions, geometry, and tolerances to ensure tool functionality.
- Apply moulding and die knowledge to evaluate designs and build tooling accurately.
- Work with CAD/CAM software (Cimatron preferred).
2. Machining & Programming
- Use machining techniques and tooling knowledge to construct and modify mould components.
- Program and operate a variety of equipment, including CNC vertical mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines.
- Create machining programs independently and adjust them based on measurement results.
3. Fitting, Assembly & Function Testing
- Use precision measuring tools to inspect components.
- Assemble tooling components ensuring proper fit, alignment, and function.
- Perform adjustments and modify components to achieve required tolerances.
4. Quality Control & Verification
- Inspect dimensions using manual measuring tools.
- Verify programs using simulations and test cuts
- Use measurements to modify machining programs.
- Verify tolerances using CMM systems.
Qualifications
Education
- Trade Certification in Tool & Die or Machining.
- Forklift experience or license is an asset.
Experience
- 4+ years as a Tool & Die Maker or Mould Maker.
- 2+ years in an industrial environment.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with precision hand measurement tools.
- Experience in CAD/CAM software (Cimatron preferred).
- Skilled in machine setup, fixturing, and machining processes.
- Strong understanding of tooling design, fit, and function.
Abilities
- Safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Accurately measure and inspect machined parts.
- Work both independently and with team members
