Maintenance Carpenter | Red Sands Group | Charlottetown, PEI
Red Sands Group is seeking a hardworking, dependable, and highly motivated Maintenance Carpenter / Maintenance Labourer to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on position that combines property maintenance, repairs, unit turnovers, and renovation work across our residential, commercial, and vacation rental portfolios. The ideal candidate enjoys variety in their day, works well independently, and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship.
This is a fast-paced, high-intensity role. Some days you may complete multiple service calls at different properties throughout the day, while other times you may spend several weeks on a larger renovation or carpentry project.
Position Details
- Full-Time, Permanent
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Participation in a rotating on-call schedule for evenings and weekends is required
- Start Date: ASAP
- Wage: $24.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing maintenance requests, repairs, renovations, and property improvement projects across the Red Sands portfolio.
This role requires someone who can move efficiently from job to job, communicate well with residents and staff, and maintain a high standard of workmanship while working in occupied and vacant properties.
While this position includes a significant amount of maintenance work, we are particularly interested in candidates with strong carpentry and renovation experience who can assist with larger projects throughout the year.
Success in this role requires excellent organization, time management, and communication skills. Candidates must be comfortable using smartphone-based software to track time, receive work orders, upload photos, document completed work, and communicate updates to management throughout the day.
The successful candidate will also participate in a rotating on-call schedule that is shared amongst multiple team members. While after-hours calls are not constant, the ability and willingness to respond to maintenance emergencies when scheduled is an absolute requirement of this position.
Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance work orders and repair requests
- Perform unit turnovers between residents
- Drywall repairs, seam filling, sanding, and painting
- Flooring installation and repairs
- Trim work, door installation, hardware replacement, and finishing work
- Framing and general carpentry projects
- Deck construction and repairs
- Property repairs and preventative maintenance
- Appliance pickup, delivery, installation, and removal
- Garbage removal, clean-outs, and property cleanup projects
- Seasonal maintenance tasks including snow removal and salting
- Assist with larger renovation and improvement projects
- Maintain accurate job notes, photos, and documentation
- Communicate effectively with residents, clients, and management
- Participate in the rotating on-call schedule and respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies when scheduled
Experience & Qualifications
We will train the right candidate; however, experience in maintenance, carpentry, renovations, construction, property management, or a related field is considered a strong asset.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Be physically capable of performing demanding labour
- Be highly organized and capable of managing multiple work orders, projects, and priorities simultaneously
- Be comfortable using smartphone-based scheduling, time tracking, and work order management software
- Maintain detailed and accurate job notes, photos, and documentation for every work order completed
- Understand that proper documentation and communication are critical components of the role
- Be comfortable working in occupied residential units
- Have strong communication and customer service skills
- Take pride in producing high-quality work
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day
Compensation
The wage range for this position is $24.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and overall qualifications.
Candidates at the upper end of the wage range will typically possess extensive experience in maintenance, carpentry, and renovations and be capable of completing complex projects independently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
