Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Vocational Counsellor (Summer Student) to support individuals in exploring career options and developing employment skills. This role offers an excellent opportunity for students interested in career development, counseling, and community engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to assess their needs, provide guidance, and facilitate training programs, all within a dynamic and supportive environment.
Duties and DetailsWage- $16.00/hour
Hours- 30 hours/week

- Clear Criminal Records, Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Checks, Valid Drivers License, Drivers Abstract
- Be aged between 18 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.
Description:
- The successful applicant will work within and under the direction of ACL-BB’s Supported Employment Options Program Director and in conjunction with the Day Program Coordinator. The applicant will be responsible for supporting all employment and training activities identified in individual plans and those of interested by those supported. He/she will ensure high quality program delivery and is passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities. This position ensures opportunities are provided for clients for access to values outcomes, self-determination, meaningful involvement and valued roles in the community. Specific job duties will vary depending on the person being supported. Regular duties will include, but are not limited to, skill development by providing on the job coaching, ensuring professionalism, providing resources and overall coaching to the individuals in all areas of employment. This position will also include supporting individuals with maintenance duties. This may included, but is not limited to completing simple maintenance tasks.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Experience or interest in recruiting, teaching, interviewing, and training & development is highly desirable
- Ability to assess individual needs and tailor guidance accordingly
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and program coordination
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for supporting youth and community members in achieving their career goals
