Main Purpose of the job:
To create healthy snacks and lunches for Infants, toddlers, preschoolers and Kindergarteners while following the Canadian Food Guide and maintaining the kitchen to code from the Ministry of Health guidelines.

Working as a team at DMS Montessori Belleville and ensure that requirements of the Ministry of Health and the CCEYA are met in conjunction with the Montessori Method of Education. Work with the Director/Supervisor and teachers to aid in successful execution of the Kitchen.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The cook is responsible for duties relating to the purchasing, preparation and serving of snacks and meals for a daycare.
Duties will include but are not limited to the following
- Preparing snacks and lunch for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarten aged children, up to 170 children.
- Ability to cook meals and bake from scratch.
- Must be able to make lunch and snacks accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies.
- Has a large knowledge of kitchen preparation and ministry of health inspections
- Ensuring the kitchen is always kept clean and sanitary, washing snack and lunch dishes, cups, cutlery, containers etc.
- Setting up bins for snacks and lunch
- Maintaining proper temperatures of food and keeping a log
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Works with a positive attitude and as a team player
- Have the physical stamina and ability to kneel, bend, lift and stand for extended periods.
- Substitute as needed in a classroom as a helper
- Assist in other tasks as needed
- Purchasing Stock
- Co-ordinate with the Director/ Supervisor the purchasing of food and supplies
- To be aware of and assist in the management of the food budget including the choices of food and use of purchases
- To keep records of packing slips and order forms
- Source stock that is of quality and nutritional value for the children
Qualifications:
· CRP and First Aid required
· Food Handler Certificate required
· Vulnerable Sector Check
· Chef training an asset
Working Conditions:
Inside and outside of the Centre premises. Must be available to be scheduled within business hours, between opening at 6:00AM to closing at 6:00PM. Must be available for one mandatory after-hours staff meeting one time per month.
Physical Requirements
In good physical and mental health to ensure optimal performance and frequent movement throughout the kitchen and the Montessori School both inside and outside.

Lifting to 40 lbs (approx. weight of a preschool child).
· Motion Parameters
Walking, climbing stairs, kneeling, and sitting at child’s level on floor often. Active in the kitchen and in programming when in and out of the classroom.

Use of tablet
· Psychological Demands
Must be skilled in problem-solving, expected to make quick decisions, strong reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
