Shield Industrial, a division of the Shield Group of Companies, is a leading Newfoundland & Labrador manufacturer of custom removable insulation systems and industrial textile products. We support clients across the construction, energy, marine, offshore, industrial fabrication, and HVAC/mechanical sectors. With increasing demand for our locally manufactured products, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Sewer to join our production team.
About the Role
Based in our Mount Pearl production facility, the Industrial Sewer plays a key role in manufacturing high-quality custom insulation blankets and industrial textile products. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and thrives in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
Whether you have previous industrial sewing experience or experience working with textiles, fabrication, or manufacturing, we are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Responsibilities (Mount Pearl Facility)
- Operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture removable insulation blankets and custom industrial textile products.
- Sew, assemble, bind, and finish products according to production drawings and specifications.
- Inspect completed products to ensure they meet Shield Industrial's quality standards.
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of sewing equipment.
- Support production workflow by assisting with material handling and shop organization.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines is considered an asset.
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, upholstery, canvas work, textiles, or related industries is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Comfortable working with heavy-duty fabrics, insulation materials, and industrial textiles.
- Ability to accurately read measurements and follow production drawings or work instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Reliability, positive attitude, and willingness to learn are essential.
