Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical or dental office, with a strong understanding of electronic medical records and office administration. This role involves providing exceptional front desk support, managing patient interactions, and ensuring smooth daily operations within a busy medical practice. Candidates with proficiency in Epic, Dentrix, and medical terminology will thrive in this position. Prior experience as a dental receptionist or in medical office administration is highly valued. The Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in delivering quality patient care through efficient administrative support.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly at the front desk, ensuring a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow using electronic scheduling systems such as Dentrix and Epic
- Verify patient insurance information and update electronic medical records accurately
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly and professionally, directing calls as needed
- Collect patient information, process payments, and handle billing inquiries
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, including updating medical histories and demographic data
- Maintain organized patient files and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
- Support clinical staff by preparing paperwork, forms, and necessary documentation for appointments
- Manage correspondence, including emails and appointment reminders, via office communication systems
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the front desk area to promote a welcoming environment
Requirements
- Previous experience as a dental receptionist or in a medical/dental office setting is preferred
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic and Dentrix is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience handling multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Office experience including administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing, and data entry
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, providers, and staff
- Prior experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems is advantageous
