About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator / Project Coordinator to support ongoing and upcoming mechanical construction projects in the Simcoe County area. This is a mostly remote, full time position ideal for a self-motivated professional who can work independently and deliver accurate, reliable estimates along with project coordination duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Search bid boards for appropriate projects to bid on
- Liaise with General Contractors for bidding opportunities
- Prepare detailed mechanical takeoffs and cost estimates for projects (HVAC, plumbing, piping, etc.)
- Request & Manage subcontractor & supplier quotes
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Track quantities, pricing updates, and scope changes & addendums
- · Manage project coordination tasks, including scope review, pricing breakdowns, shop drawing management, issuing sub-contracts & PO's & supplier coordination
- Coordinate with Field Manager on all projects
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Maintain organized digital records and estimating documentationRequired Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years of direct mechanical experience (field or estimating-based experience required)
· Proven experience completing mechanical takeoffs and estimates independently
· Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision
· Strong attention to detail and time management skills
· Solid understanding of mechanical systems, drawings, and construction workflows
Proficient with Tender management & takeoff software, Outlook, Microsoft/Word
Portfolio Requirement
Applicants must provide a portfolio of completed mechanical estimating work, which may include:
· Sample mechanical takeoffs
· Completed estimates (redacted as needed)
· Project summaries highlighting scope and value
· Project coordination or administrative support experience
· Familiarity with Ontario construction standards and practices
Preferred (Asset)
· Hands on Plumbing & Mechanical installation experience
· Own mechanical estimating/takeoff software (e.g., FastPIPE, Trimble, PlanSwift, AutoBid, or similar) – not required but considered an asset
