Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Truck & Transport Mechanic (CVIP) to join our growing team in Edmonton. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining commercial transport trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment while ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications, Alberta Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) standards, and company safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on commercial trucks and trailers to minimize fleet downtime.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, engine, transmission, suspension, hydraulic, and ABS brake systems using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications, safety regulations, and company quality standards.
- Perform Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) inspections and complete all required documentation (where licensed).
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of workmanship.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Inspect and maintain shop tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Follow all company policies, quality control procedures, and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and management regarding repair status and equipment needs.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Shop Manager.
Requirements
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Technician Certificate is required
- Valid CVIP Certification is an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical experience in a commercial truck or heavy-duty repair shop.
- Experience with commercial trailers and heavy equipment
- Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy trucks and trailers independently.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and ensuring compliance with commercial vehicle safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- Regular hours are 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a cross-shift/rotating schedule that includes occasional weekend work in exchange for extended weekends.
