Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and responsible Class 1 Truck Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial trucks to transport freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the highest safety standards. This role requires a professional with strong driving skills, knowledge of heavy equipment operation, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks for the transportation of freight to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, including logs, delivery receipts, and reports.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and repairs, including automotive repairs when needed, to ensure optimal operation.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during transportation activities.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules and issues.
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment as required for loading or unloading freight.
Experience
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience in commercial driving, freight transportation, or related fields preferred.
- Knowledge of forklift operation and heavy equipment handling is a plus.
- Basic automotive repair skills are advantageous for maintaining vehicle performance.
- Prior experience in handling freight logistics or warehouse operations is beneficial but not mandatory.
