Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Millwright (MIDNIGHT SHIFT) to support operations at our Ajax facility. This full-time onsite role plays a critical part in maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting a safe, high-performance production environment.
The ideal candidate will take full ownership of our CMMS maintenance software and be responsible for leading the setup and implementation of the majority of the system. This role will manage work orders, purchase orders, maintenance inventory, and overall system accuracy and performance. The candidate will ensure the platform is properly built, maintained, organized, and fully utilized to support efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Preventive Maintenance activities as assigned on all equipment and machines throughout the plant and yard in conjunction with daily production requirements
- Repair breakdowns of equipment, machinery, and infrastructure
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Fabricate parts and other equipment as per instructions or blueprint
- Install and commission new machinery
- Perform weld repairs on equipment
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (plastics, extrusion, or converting preferred)
- Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Welding experience required (certification preferred but not mandatory)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics
- Basic troubleshooting ability in electrical systems (PLCs/VFDs a plus)
- PLC and controls troubleshooting experience
- Ability to diagnose sensors, relays, contactors, motors, and control circuits
- Experience reading electrical schematics
- Safe use of multimeter and electrical test tools
- HMI troubleshooting experience
- Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) experience (ABB, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.)
- Extrusion equipment experience
- Experience with winders, chill rolls, trim systems, pumps, heaters, blowers, and conveyors
- Strong Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) knowledge
- Machine guarding and safe work practice knowledge
- Arc flash awareness
- CMMS / maintenance software experience (MaintainX, SAP, etc.)
- Work order and preventive maintenance documentation experience
- Basic machining skills (lathe, mill, drill press, alignment, bearings, shaft repair)
- Must have own basic tool set
- Journeyman-level experience or completion of a formal apprenticeship or trade school program preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment
Work Schedule
- Midnight shift: Sunday - Thursday, 11:00PM to 7:00AM
- On-call duties required for emergency maintenance (note our facility is open 24/7, 365)
