We’re looking for a Driller's Assistant to join and grow with our team!
Key Responsibilities
As a Drilling Assistant at Canadian Geological Drilling, you will support our drilling operations in geotechnical, environmental, and aggregate projects. Key tasks include:
- Prepare, stage, and secure equipment, tools, and supplies for field work
- Safely load, unload, and transport augers, drill rods, casing, tooling, and other drill accessories
- Assist in assembling, connecting, and handling drill stems, rods, casing, and associated tooling
- Help clean, inspect, and maintain drill rods, core tubes, collars, and drill equipment
- Remove cuttings, soil, and debris from drill holes; shovel and sweep work area
- Install 1" or 2" plastic monitoring pipes in ground, backfill holes, and ensure secure installation
- Conduct routine field maintenance (greasing, lubrication, basic repairs) under supervision
- Wash, clean, and maintain drill rigs, support vehicles, and associated gear
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, site protocols, and company guidelines
- Assist with daily logs, inventory counts, and reporting as required
Qualifications
- Must have own reliable transportation
- Physically fit and able to work in demanding field conditions
- Experience operating drill rigs and other related equipment is considered an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment maintenance and repairs (welding experience is a plus).
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail
- Willingness to travel and stay out of town (remote work assignments). About 30%
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team
- Valid safety certifications (or ability to obtain):
- Standard First Aid

- H2S Alive
- C.S.T.S.
