This is a unionized position offering full union wages, with pension and benefits provided in addition to the posted hourly rate.
The Directional Driller / Drill Locator is responsible for the safe planning, execution, and completion of directional drilling projects.
Duties
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections, equipment checks, and complete all required safety documentation.
- Operate directional drilling equipment and associated machinery safely and efficiently.
- Perform drill locating duties as required.
- Drive support vehicles and trailers to transport equipment, materials, and tools to and from project sites.
- Load, secure, and unload drilling equipment in a safe and damage-free manner.
- Prepare and maintain drilling fluids according to ground and site conditions.
- Assist with bore planning and execution using appropriate drill heads, tooling, and back reamers.
- Install conduits and underground utility infrastructure in accordance with project requirements and specifications.
- Follow all company policies, safety standards, and site-specific regulations.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel when required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Support team members and assist with general labour and project-related tasks as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational and project objectives.

Qualifications
- Valid AZ or DZ Driver's Licence with a clean driving abstract (required).
- Previous experience operating directional drilling equipment.
- Experience with Vermeer Horizontal Directional Drilling equipment is considered an asset.
- Ability to operate both drill and locating equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) on a regular basis.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and site conditions.
- Knowledge of utility construction and telecommunications infrastructure is considered an asset.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel to various project locations as required.
Pay: $38.00-$41.00 per hour
