Position Title:
Cook
Position Summary:
The cook shall be responsible and accountable for the preparation, presentation and service of meals for Residents in The Landing and Harmony Court. They shall be responsible for the production of meals presented and served with a high standard of quality and plate presentation. They shall be responsible and accountable for maintaining the production areas of the kitchen in a sanitary safe condition.
Responsible to / Reports To:
Food Services Manager; Food Services Supervisor
Qualifications:
· Education
o High school diploma or equivalent preferred
o Food Handling Certificate required
o WHIMIS training an asset
o Graduate from a recognized cooking school an asset.
· Experience
o Life and work experience in working with older adults preferred
o One to two years experience in recognized food restaurant facility
· Knowledge, Abilities and Skills / Key Competencies
o Effective written and oral communication skills in English
o Ability to work independently and safely with minimal supervision
o Must be flexible and able to adapt to change on a day to day basis
o Ability to monitor and ensure accuracy in food purchases and portion control.
· Criminal Record check required (including Vulnerable Persons / Abuse
registry check)
