Overview
Nescroft Dairy Ltd is a privately-owned dairy farm with approximately 550 dairy cows, 200 beef cows, and 500 young stock. The farm also manages approximately 1,000 acres of land for crop production, with all fieldwork performed in-house.
Responsibilities
The Farm Supervisor will be responsible for supervising daily farm operations and coordinating both livestock and crop production activities.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of farm workers and assign duties
- Train staff and monitor performance to ensure efficient and safe operations
- Oversee livestock health, including monitoring animals, assisting with calving, and administering treatments
- Supervise calving operations and assist with births when necessary
- Perform hoof trimming and other herd maintenance
- Ensure proper care of newborn calves and overall herd management
- Operate and oversee the use of farm machinery and equipment
- Maintain farm records and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in farming, including supervisory experience
- Experience in livestock handling, and experience and knowledge of dispensing and administering Canadian livestock pharmaceuticals required
- Completion of secondary school (high school diploma)
- Hoof trimming certificate is mandatory
- Ability to operate farm machinery and equipment
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to train and supervise employees in a fast-paced farm environment
- Experience with DairyComp for livestock record keeping is an asset
