About KS on the Keys
KS on the Keys is a restaurant and event centre in Ottawa with a full front of house operation and a busy calendar of large private events, VIP catering, corporate functions, and regular dining service. We move at a fast pace and we expect our management team to set the standard for everyone around them.
The role
We're hiring a Front of House Manager to oversee our entire FOH operation and report directly to our General Manager. This covers day-to-day service, staff management, event coordination, and client communication. You'll be the person our front of house team looks to when things get busy, and the person ownership trusts to keep standards high when they're not in the room.
We need someone who leads by showing up and setting the example, not by title alone. Our FOH team is large and diverse and they need a manager who earns their respect through consistency, professionalism, and genuine investment in the team's success.
What you'll be responsible for
- Managing a front of house team of 25 or more staff including servers, bartenders, and hosts
- Overseeing daily floor operations and ensuring service standards are met at every shift
- Handling private event bookings, client communication, and event coordination from inquiry through to execution
- Scheduling, staff performance management, and onboarding new team members
- Creating and maintaining SOPs, training materials, and operational documentation
- Working closely with the kitchen and GM to ensure smooth communication across the operation
- Managing reservations, POS systems, and front of house technology
- Handling guest concerns professionally and resolving issues on the spot
- Ensuring full compliance with liquor licensing regulations and responsible service standards
- Being present for evening service and weekend events on a regular basis
What we're looking for
- At least 3 years of experience managing a front of house team in a licensed, high-volume establishment
- Proven experience coordinating large private events and managing client relationships
- Strong working knowledge of POS systems, reservation platforms, and event management tools
- Ability to create clear, organized documentation including SOPs, training guides, and shift reports
- Smart Serve certification or equivalent provincial responsible service certification
- A natural communicator who is equally comfortable with a guest complaint and a staff meeting
- Highly organized, calm under pressure, and able to manage competing priorities without dropping the ball
- Someone who takes ownership of their section and doesn't wait to be told what needs fixing
What we offer
- $55,000 to $70,000 per year based on experience
- Extended health, dental, and vision care
- Staff meal program
- On-site parking
- A leadership role with real responsibility at a busy, growing operation
Requirements
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must be available to work on-site in Ottawa
- Must hold a valid Smart Serve certification
