Turf Removal Team Member (Seasonal)
Astroturf West Distributors Ltd. is the leading provider of artificial turf sports surfaces in Western Canada. We are currently looking to expand our team of motivated demolition staff. In this new position, you will be reporting directly to our lead demo team members. This opportunity is not for the faint of heart. This labour position will require stamina throughout our installation season, often working 12-hour days, 6 days a week. Overtime is required. Experience with tractors or other small machines is a big asset.
Your contribution:
- You enjoy being physically fit and working hard on job sites in an outdoor environment
- You are able to travel throughout the lower mainland / Vancouver Island with our teams of dedicated staff
- You are a quick learner and open to instruction
- You can complete tasks in a timely manner
- You have solid listening skills, are a quick learner and are open to instruction
- You are strong and have the ability to lift over 50 lbs, several times per day
- You have experience working in a team environment, sharing responsibility and workload with the team and preferably, you have a team sports background
- You are, at the minimum, a high school graduate
- You may have a First aid and/or WHIMIS certificate as an asset but these are not required
- A valid Drivers Licence is a benefit but not a requirement.
- Experience with the operation of a tractor is an asset, but not required.
A typical day in the life of a Turf Team Member:
- If you do not have, or choose not to use your own vehicle, one of our senior staff will pick you up at a central sky train station, and will drive you to the project work site.
- At 7am work begins and anywhere from 5-8pm work ends.
- Operation of small farm equipment.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks.
- Jobsite clean up and prep.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
