Command Equipment Ltd. is seeking a fulltime apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic for work in Edmonton. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various types of equipment such as mulchers, bunchers, skidders, processors, dozers, skid-steers, light towers, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Diagnose equipment problems and determine repairs as needed
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
- Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes
- Service attachments and working tools
- Maintain a clean and tidy personal work area and assist with general cleaning duties in a workshop environment
- Maintain daily record of all work tasks and materials
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
- Must be able to work overtime (weekends or extended hours during weekdays)
- Adhere to the all Company Policies
- Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
Qualifications:
- 1st & 2nd year apprentices, non-ticketed applicants and anyone wanting to begin their apprenticeship are welcome.
- Experienced and considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of various types of heavy equipment and other power-driven equipment and tools
- Skilled in the operation of variety of tools and equipment used in the repair of heavy equipment
- Capable of writing and managing work orders
- Ability to analyze and repair mechanical failures
- A motivated and punctual self-starter
- Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills with a strong attention to detail
- Able to work well under pressure
- Must have their own tools
