Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialty Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialized patient care across various units including Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Operating Room (OR), Renal, and Psychiatric services. This role is located at various hospitals across Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care in fast-paced hospital environments. This position is integral to ensuring optimal patient outcomes through comprehensive nursing practices tailored to complex medical needs.
Duties
- Deliver specialized nursing care to patients in diverse clinical settings including ER, ICU, OR, renal units, and psychiatric wards.
- Administer medications accurately and monitor patient responses, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
- Perform patient assessments, document findings using medical terminology, and update electronic health records with systems like Epic and Cerner.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, case managers, and support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Assist with pain management strategies, wound care, laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, and other diagnostic tests as required.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding treatment procedures, medication regimens, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards specific to each unit.
- Support patient mobility and comfort, especially in senior care or dementia care settings, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Document all nursing interventions thoroughly in compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
Experience
- 2 years experience working in hospital environments within ER, ICU, OR, renal units, or psychiatric wards is essential.
- Registered and in good standing with CRNS
- Strong background in acute care nursing with familiarity in pain management, case management, medication administration, and medical terminology.
- Experience working with special populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics (including assisted living or nursing home experience), or patients requiring dementia or senior care is advantageous.
- Certification in relevant specialties is a plus but not mandatory. (CTAS for ER, Critical Care Certificate for ICU, perioperative for OR etc.)

- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- BLS Certificate
