Heating Equipment Technician – In-Shop or Field Service

We are currently seeking an experienced Heating Equipment Technician to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heating and climate-control equipment.
The successful candidate will have experience working with natural gas, propane, diesel, and electric-fired heating equipment and will be comfortable working either in the shop or in the field at customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain natural gas, propane, diesel, and electric-fired heaters.
- Perform gas-related inspections, testing, and repairs in accordance with applicable provincial codes and regulations.
- Perform onsite service and repairs at customer locations when required.
- Inspect and prepare equipment to ensure it is rental-ready, safe, reliable, and operating properly.
- Follow established checklists, procedures, and safety standards.
- Read and interpret owners' manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Operate and test equipment to confirm proper operation and complete repairs.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other service technicians when required.
- Assist with evaluating equipment for repair, replacement, or retirement.
- Maintain strong product knowledge and provide customers with guidance regarding equipment operation, safety, features, and accessories.
- Provide professional customer service and resolve service issues efficiently.
- Complete all required service paperwork and computer documentation accurately.
- Maintain accurate equipment and inventory records.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- 5–7+ years of experience working with heating, HVAC, hydronics, electrical systems, oil-fired equipment, and/or construction heaters.
- Valid Alberta AIT Class B Gasfitter certification required; Class A preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and general electrical knowledge.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing construction or temporary heating equipment is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and load/unload equipment up to 50 lbs regularly.
