Title: TB Nurse Advisor
Salary: $50.00 - $62.77 per hour – equivalent to an annual salary of $97,833 - $122,817 (exclusive of casual premium)
Contract: Casual
Hours: 8 am – 4 pm (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)
Location: Alberni office– Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy). Please note, this role will be relocating to our new office building in North Vancouver on Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) land, south of Mount Seymour Parkway in Spring 2027.

About the role
The Clinical TB Nurse Consultant provides specialized tuberculosis (TB) support to First Nations communities on-reserve across BC, partnering closely with Community Health Nurses to deliver and coordinate TB programs, including Directly Observed Therapy for active and latent TB. This role combines clinical expertise with relationship-based practice, supporting consistency in TB prevention and response by offering real-time guidance during case management, screening, contact investigation, and education. As a trusted advisor and educator, the Consultant trains and mentors nursing staff and DOT workers, contributes to nursing education and guidelines, and supports community-based surveillance initiatives. With a strong focus on collaboration and cultural responsiveness, this position connects systems, teams, and community priorities, fostering innovation, critical thinking, and capacity-building within the healthcare workforce.
This role requires demonstrated expertise in TB case management and public health nursing, including screening, treatment planning, contact tracing, and follow-up in alignment with current clinical guidelines. The successful candidate brings a holistic, culturally grounded approach that reflects Indigenous worldviews and supports culturally safe care across diverse First Nations communities. Strong relationship-building and mentorship skills are essential, along with the ability to partner effectively with community health teams while coaching peers through complex clinical and programmatic challenges. The position also calls for critical thinking and independent decision-making in a flexible, autonomous environment, with the ability to prioritize and exercise sound judgment in collaboration with nurses and health leaders.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
Education
- Bachelor of Nursing with a community health component plus two (2) years of experience in community TB health programming and experience working with First Nations people, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Occupational Certification
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Experience
- Experience with data base entry systems an asset
Knowledge
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations.
- Knowledge of the cultural traditions and practices in client First Nations communities
- Knowledge of traditional, alternative, complementary, and other recognized healing practices.
