Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Line Pump Operator to join our operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating line pumps used in concrete placement, ensuring efficient and safe delivery of materials on various construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical systems, and construction processes. The Line Pump Operator plays a vital part in maintaining project timelines and quality standards through precise and safe equipment handling.
Responsibilities
- In a professional, safe, and efficient manner, utilize a Line Pump (VSP or Truck and Trailer) and necessary hoses to pour concrete into various structures, including basements, garage floors, driveways, walls, and footings.
- Assess job sites and identify appropriate set up locations to mitigate hazards (soft ground, power lines, boom access, etc.) and ensure appropriate Mixer Truck access.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot pump equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Drive to and from job sites while adhering to Provincial and Municipal transportation legislation.
- Conduct thorough daily trip inspections.
- Maintain clean working environments at customer sites and Rolling Mix yards.
- Maintain and enhance communication channels between dispatch, drivers, other team members, and management.
- Take initiative to support other team members and customers when required.
- Coordinate with the construction crew to facilitate smooth concrete pouring operations.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on pump machinery to prevent breakdowns.
- Monitor flow rates, pressure levels, and other operational parameters during pumping activities.
- Maintain safety protocols at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of pump systems as needed.
- Document operational activities and report any issues or malfunctions promptly.
Requirements
- Class 5 drivers license with a clean 5-year Drivers Abstract.
- Strong knowledge of the City of Calgary and surrounding towns.
- Willing and Able to work flexible hours such as overtime and weekends as dictated by needs of the business.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to inform daily trip inspections and help prevent catastrophic failures.
- Understand how individual efforts contribute to the success of the overall team.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, or concrete finishing tools is preferred.
- Construction experience, particularly in paving, concrete forming, or related fields, is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot industrial pumps safely and effectively.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation on construction sites.
- Physical ability to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy loads and working in outdoor conditions.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation are essential for coordinating with site personnel.
Pay: $36.45-$40.50 per hour
